These socks capitalize on the cleverness of both mitered squares and the technology of handpainted yarns available now. This pattern uses one colour repeat of a handpainted yarn that is both artistically beautiful and mathematically predictable. As far as we know, although both of these techniques (predictable handpaints and mitred squares) have been around for a while, this may be the first pattern to put the two together to best advantage. Each wee square is one repeat of the handpaint.
